Welcome to CeNeRx
CeNeRx is a specialty biopharmaceutical company developing and commercializing innovative
treatments for diseases of the central nervous system (CNS) and for the enhancement of positive
mental and physical health.
Based in North Carolina's Research Triangle Park area, CeNeRx (SEN-er-ex) is developing a
balanced portfolio that includes clinical stage CNS therapeutics related to depression, anxiety and
epilepsy, and an earlier stage pipeline of candidates for treating pain, glaucoma and obesity..
Our most advanced program includes a series of compounds known as RIMAs (reversible inhibitors
of monoamine oxidase), which are entering Phase II development for the treatment of major
depressive disorder. The lead product, Tyrima offers a unique triple action mechanism and may
help patients who have not previously responded to traditional antidepressant therapy. In addition to
helping patient with major depressive disorder, Tyrima may uniquely address symptoms of fatigue
and low energy which are commonly reported by patients with atypical depression, a depressive
subtype for which there are currently no FDA-approved treatments. Tyrima is unique in its selective
and reversible binding to monoamine oxidase A (MAO-A) which minimizes food interactions that
limited the use of earlier generations of related compounds.
CeNeRx is also advancing a promising preclinical program which includes multiple cannabinoids
which have demonstrated application in the treatment of pain, glaucoma and obesity. Unlike other
cannabinoid programs, a subset of the CeNeRx cannabinoids do not penetrate the CNS or brain,
thus eliminating the unwanted CNS depression and abuse issues / scheduling associated with
other cannabinoid programs.
With our balanced focus on developing both improved versions of drugs with known mechanisms
and selected novel agents, CeNeRx aims to achieve business success by contributing to the
improved health and well-being of individuals with a variety of CNS-related conditions.
